Postcircumcisional Ischemia of the Glans Penis Treated with Pentoxifylline
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ischemia of the glans penis is a rare postcircumcision complication. We describe a four-year-old boy developing ischemia of the glans penis 48 h after circumcision. The ischemia completely resolved following treatment with iv pentoxifylline (PTX) for six days, and the patient was discharged without any problems. PTX treatment should be kept in mind as an alternative treatment modality in ischemia of the glans penis which is a serious potential post-circumcision complication.

Successful treatment with enoxaparin of glans ischemia due to local anesthesia after circumcision.
The severe ischemia or necrosis of the glans penis is a rarely seen complication after circumcision. We report the case of a 7-year-old boy with severe glans penis ischemia occurring 24 hours after circumcision with local anesthesia (0.1% xylocaine containing ephedrine). His hemogram and levels of proteins C and S and fibrinogen were normal, but the D-dimer level was higher than normal (2.57 mg...

Hemangiomas of the glans penis are very rare lesions. Only a few cases of glans penis hemangiomas have been reported. Different treatments for hemangiomas of the glans penis have been described such as Nd: YAG laser ablation, sclerotherapy or surgical excision. A case of hemangioma of the glans penis was diagnosed in a -26year-old man. After its evaluation with color Dop...
متن کاملPre-Ischemic Treatment of Pentoxifylline Reduces Infarct Volumes in Transient Focal Cerebral Ischemia in the Rat
Background: Pentoxifylline (PTX) is used in human for intermittent claudication and cerebral vascular disorders including cerebrovascular dementia. It also inhibits the synthesis of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), which is believed to be neurotoxic in animal models of cerebral ischemia. The objective of this study was to examine the role of PTX on ischemia/reperfusion injures in rat model of t...
متن کاملEffect of Pentoxifylline on Ischemia- induced Brain Damage and Spatial Memory Impairment in Rat
Objective(s) The brief interruption of cerebral blood flow causes permanent brain damage and behavioral dysfunction. The hippocampus is highly vulnerable to ischemic insults, particularly the CA1 pyramidal cell layer. There is no effective pharmacological strategy for improving brain tissue damage induced by cerebral ischemia. Previous studies reported that pentoxifylline (PTX) has a neuroprot...
